So what is a custom installed unit?

A custom installed unit is one that is completely fitted to your specific vehicle, sensors hidden behind the bumpers, GPS antenna hidden, mounting of various components for maximum effectiveness, and all cables are cut to length and properly terminated. With a custom installed unit, there is nothing showing or hanging from the windshield of the vehicle.

What if I have Distronic Plus cruise control?

For vehicles with Distronic Plus, we only recommend the Escort 9500ci with an instrument cluster integration unit. This setup, though adds to the cost, allows the driver to have some comfort knowing they still are protected in the K Band region which is still a popular band by many Law Enforcement Agencies.

The cluster integration module filters out the Mercedes-Benz K band signals which are always present when the vehicle is running and will not report the false alarms.

The cluster interface displays the Escort 9500ci display information right on your instrument cluster and enables you to use your steering wheel controls to control functions of the Escort system, such as volume, mute, and mark location.

Both the K-40 and Escort systems are labor intensive installation that requires a lot of skill. Sure anyone can install the system, but Collection Autosports defines the correct way to implement the system. Our attention to details includes soldered connections, braided wire loom, and all wiring ran as if it was installed by the manufacturer. We then test the unit to ensure it is working 100% correctly.

What if my vehicle doesn't have Distronic Plus but I still want the Cluster Interface

No problem we have it, and actually encourage it with the Escort Radar system, as the display is unsightly and looks out of place in the cabin of the vehicle.

Do these systems work?

We receive calls all the time thanking us for our great work and how they evaded a ticket numerous times. Yes, we do get the occasional complaint also and would like to point out some common sense radar/laser driving etiquette.

• • If you are doing 100 mph with no one in front of you and the only person on the highway in the middle of the night, trying not to be Captain Obvious here, but most likely you will get a radar ticket. Common Sense, have someone at least 1 mile in front of you so you can pick up the reflection of the radar gun on them allowing you some warningto slow down.
  • We can’t jam radar guns. Well we can but it would be illegal and also you will be having tumors growing out of places you wouldn’t expect.
  • I got a laser ticket and there was a car in front of me! Well if you are tailgating, chances are that your center mount laser jammer is not going to see the threat and react. Line of sight...line of sight
  • I got pulled over by a VASCAR. Sorry, but if an airplane is timing you from the air we can’t help you.
